Forest Bathing Walk
May

Forest Bathing Walk

Forest bathing, also known as "shinrin-yoku," is a practice of intentionally spending time in nature--particularly in but not limited to forests--to connect with the natural world through all of the senses. It's not about exercise or hiking, but rather about slowing down and immersing oneself in the natural atmosphere, focusing on the sights, sounds, smells, textures, and tastes of the environment.

In this walk, certified forest therapy guide, Annie Wegner LeFort, will guide you into connecting with the More-Than-Human-World to have a unique experience in nature.

Please arrive with weather-appropriate footwear and clothing and other essentials, and also an open mind.

RSVP to annie@eatmovemke.com to register by May 20. You MUST register ahead of time so that you can receive details about the walk (meeting location and other notes.) Minimum of 4 registrants to hold the walk.

$10-20 suggested donation

Kids Forest and Flow

By request, we are offering a yoga and forest bathing practice suitable for the young ones in our midst who wish to bend and stretch with their breath, play yoga games, then explore the woods for a kid-friendly guided forest therapy experience.

We will meet in the parking lot at Grant Park, Picnic Area 5. After a 45-minute yoga practice on the grass including mindful breathing exercises, yoga games, and forest/animal-themed poses we will step into the woods in Seven Bridges Park along Lake Michigan for various invitations to encourage a deeper connection to nature.

This practice is appropriate for young people ages 6-13. Parents are welcome to accompany children for no additional fee. Please bring your own mat, a water bottle, appropriate footwear for walking and getting a little wet (if desired), sunscreen, and a hat (optional). A light "snack" will be offered at the end of our walk.

$20 suggested donation. Register with annie@eatmovemke.com. Venmo and Paypal available. Spaces are limited.

While Annie typically teaches yoga to adults, she also holds a 16-hour Kids Yoga Teaching certification. Additionally, she teaches adolescents cooking classes and enjoys the energy they bring to these spaces.
